RURAL HEALTH WEST
CAREER + WELLBEING PLANNING WORKSHOPS
the brief:
Jenny Gleeson Coaching & Consulting was contracted to develop and run a series of career and wellbeing workshops for Rural Health West Doctors and Allied Health Professionals across regional Western Australia.
She ran these workshops in Northam, Albany, Kalgoorlie, Port Hedland, Broome, and Geraldton over a two-month period. These workshops included engaging and interactive activities revolving around understanding your personality type, using the Self Care Wheel, goal setting, conducting a personal SWOT analysis, creating career mission statements, identifying mentors and support networks, and various online tools to ensure wellness is maintained.
STRATEGY:
Jenny Gleeson Coaching & Consulting developed a 68-page work booklet for participants to work through during the workshop and refer back to in their own personal time.

Working together with the Workforce Solutions team, Jenny ensured that the content contained within the booklet was relevant to the cohort and spend time going through the activities with the Workforce Solutions team, making sure all employees were across the content and able to support her effectively in the delivery.

Jenny worked with the coordinator of the program to organise venues, catering, accommodation, travel, resources, and logistics for the day including tacking enquiries, marketing and venue set up. Delivery across each regional town went smoothy, was well received and requests for future delivery were made by various organisations in attendance.
KEY OBJECTIVES:
These workshops aimed to assist health professionals establish a career path and identify career opportunities in rural Western Australian areas (Zoning MM2 – MM7). The initiative aimed to support the retention of health professionals to rural Western Australia and provide them with practical knowledge and skills to develop personal career goals and plans, improve their goal setting and career planning to maximise the career and lifestyle opportunities in rural Western Australia.
RESULT:
Rural Health West are the leading health workforce agency in Western Australia and work hard behind the scenes to provide a range of support to rural health professionals to keep country people healthy. As a result of these workshops, participants felt a stronger sense of support from Rural Health West and were appreciative of a fresh take on the support usually provided by Rural Health West, which usually focuses on professional development rather than personal development.
